NEWSPAPERS/MAGAZINES

customer acquisition
(suggested ipsh! solution: ipsh! interactive)

To supplement or even replace the traditional subscription promotions that readers receive on postcard inserts in magazines and via direct mail, publishers can advertise a subscription shortcode both inside publications at the POP for the magazine.  For example, a perspective subscriber could text in his/her address to receive a free trial issue while browsing the magazine section of his/her local bookstore.  Publishers could also consider an exclusive mobile service (such as a mobile edition of their publication) available for a modest monthly fee billed through their carrier.

customer retention/loyalty
(suggested ipsh! solution: ipsh! Managed Messenger)

Current/long-term subscribers can enter their mobile phone numbers on the publication’s website to become a member of a subscriber’s “club”, with access to special offers and deals sent directly to their cell phones via SMS on a regular basis (i.e. monthly).

revenue generation

Publications can advertise for premium mobile content that is tailored to their core audience directly on their website or WAP site.  For example, a teen girls’ publication can advertise premium celebrity wallpapers or pop music ringtones on their website that can be downloaded immediately and billed through the reader’s carrier.

adsales to upsell mobile in advertisements

Advertisers have the opportunity to reach millions of magazine and newspaper readers with ads that more effectively engage the consumer with mobile calls-to-action.  For example, a full-page magazine ad for a new CD that invites readers to text in to a shortcode for an SMS with instructions on how to download a premium ringtone of the artist’s new single.
