Cell phone users gained 24/7 access to Ray J's updates, exclusive 411, contest announcements, song clips & personalized messages. By texting the word DOG TO 84133, cell phone users stood a chance to win exclusive and unreleased Snoop/50 Cent underground CDs and 2 VIP tickets to the US to attend the Roc the Mic Concert. Jay-Z fans were able to receive his best one-liners and quotes sent to their cell phones. Madonna's label, Warner Bros. launched a campaign prior to the release of her album April 22. Cell phone users were able to send samples of her single American Life to friends. Universal Records used text messaging to increase airplay for Nelly's video "Air Force Ones'' on BET's 106 & Park. 29,178 messages were sent to cell phone users that included Nelly's voice message and an option to directly call BET to vote for Nelly's video. In the U.K, GWR was looking to drive listeners to Black Country radio station Beacon FM and used SMS to promote a competition to win £10k on their breakfast show. Consumers who responded 'BEACON' were sent a daily clue via text to help answer the on-air questions. |
