Hock Tan was appointed CEO and president of Avago Technologies, a San Jose semiconductor company, succeeding Dick Chang, who was named chairman. Tan was CEO and president at Integrated Circuit Systems Inc., until its merger with IDT, and he remains chairman of IDT.

John Lui was named CEO and chief investment officer of UCB Asset Management, a subsidiary of UCBH Holdings Inc. of San Francisco. He was chief investment officer and managing director at BNY Asset Management in New York City.

Carat Fusion, a San Francisco digital and direct marketing agency, appointed Scott Sorokin president. He was EVP and global account director at MRM Worldwide.

The advertising agency of McCann Worldgroup in San Francisco named Joe Burton COO on the global Microsoft account. He was COO at OgilvyOne Worldwide.

Paula Elmore was promoted to chief marketing officer and senior partner at Nosal Partners, a San Francisco executive leadership search and development firm. She was VP of marketing and a partner.

The law firm of Latham & Watkins named attorney Scott Haber office managing partner in San Francisco. He succeeds Gregory Lindstrom, who continues in his litigation practice. Haber was on the firm's executive committee.

The Bank of Marin of Corte Madera promoted Peter Pelham to EVP and branch executive. He was SVP and branch administrator. Larry Klaustermeier was named EVP and chief relationship officer. He was SVP and chief credit officer. Kevin Coonan was promoted to EVP and chief credit officer. He was an SVP and a team leader of the credit management group.

Cresa Partners, a corporate real estate brokerage in San Francisco, appointed Kenneth Sproul SVP. He was manager of office leasing at TRI Commercial.

Dave Hyams was promoted to VP of media relations at Solem & Associates, a San Francisco public relations and public affairs agency. He was media relations director. He was previously director of news operations at The Chronicle.

Greystripe, a San Francisco mobile advertising company, named Larry Grossman VP of sales. He was founder and president of Media Encounters Inc.

Easic Corp., a Santa Clara company that makes customized chips for the semiconductor industry, appointed Kaushik Banerjee VP of engineering. He was VP of system-on-chip research and development in the communications and consumer business group at Marvell Semiconductor.

Ipsh!, a San Francisco mobile marketing firm, named Shabnum Norling managing director. She was senior account director for the West Coast at CMP Media.

The Argent Hotel of San Francisco named Michael Casey general manager. He was general manager at the Omni San Francisco Hotel.
